Why this feeling of sadness now?  I think I’ll sit with it a while, after all it cannot hurt to understand the feeling if it manifests itself to me.  If I ignore it and send it away will it be hurt and think that it cannot come again to remind me of something I have not yet forgotten?  Breathe deeply, stare at the yellow walls and the sunlight reflecting through the window at the foot of the stairs.  It doesn’t feel any better, but then why should it?  You’ve only been thinking about the feeling for a few seconds.  Is that all the time that you can spare for this feeling when it so urgently wants to be felt?  Don’t you owe it to yourself to sit and engage with it, have a conversation with it, listen to what it has to say?

A small knot in the pit of your stomach.  A small pressure to the right side of your head, just under your ear.  Tingling in the feet and curiosity around the base of your neck and furrowed forehead.  Lips pursed as if to kiss and greet the feeling that has chosen this moment to visit, when you really weren’t expecting visitors today.  Invite the feeling to stay and find out what it has to say.  Don’t be cold and formal, treat it like a long lost friend.  Connect with it and let it know that it is important, that it is welcome and that although you have other things to do, this feeling has priority right now.  It relaxes and reclines and something shifts within you.

You turn your head and gaze from the foot of the stairs to the open window where the breeze softly caresses your skin, notice too that the trees are waving at you, as the cool air touches their leaves.  That the clouds in the sky floating on by suggest softness, cushioning your  thoughts.  Having gazed a while, seconds, minutes – who knows, you glance away, noticing the feeling has crept away.  You smile and acknowledge the gift your visitor brought today.

Versatile Blogger Award

I am only just getting around to accepting the Versatile Blogger Award. Better late than never, as they say!

I am grateful to Cheryle of the Lightwalkers Blog http://lightwalker1.wordpress.com for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award. Her interests include: writing, baking, poetry, painting, photography, gardening and many other creative endeavours evidence of which are wonderfully displayed on her blog .

1) Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their site.

2) Tell 7 things about yourself

3) Nominate 15 bloggers

4) Link to their sites and let them know of the nomination.

Tell 7 things about yourself

1) I have lived in a house where there was so much paranormal activity it scared me and I was forced to move.

2)I have seen an angel.

5) I took my driving test 7 times before passing on the final attempt.

6) I love being by the sea

Nominations

I’m not going to nominate 15 bloggers because most of the blogs that I love and follow are done by established bloggers who already have a huge following and already have awards. Some of them prefer not to accept awards. What I will do is list some of the blogs that I have read recently and which I think are absolutely worth a visit. And they are as follows:

Lovely!

Kat's Scribbles

Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and
poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.

Pain and Joy

Pain and Joy

Dark rooms
Dark thoughts

Pain and Joy
Acceptance and denial

Today’s assignment is to write a post which builds on one of the comments left by me on a post I read yesterday. As the eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that I haven’t done any of the assignments this week bar this one. So I hadn’t commented on any posts yesterday, therefore in order to complete this assignment I read a few today and left comments on a few posts. But the one I’m going to write my post on today is Shower Thoughts(writing as Superishness) post about “Flower Power – Mood Upper” where she talks about the effect that flowers can have on your mood. She says: “I was not feeling the best today and just wanted to stay in bed. Afraid to move, afraid to think… this is one of those depressing days for me.

My mother in law who is such a lovely lady kept on checking up on me to see if I’m okay and asked me if I wanted to go with her to get some olives. So I ended up going anyway. Well it’s a bit of a diversion I guess so I can stop thinking about the demons (problems) in my head.

After my MIL’s errands we went to the Flower Power Garden and I was just at awe!. Flowers are just so beautiful that even my worries disappeared.”

Role Model?

Flowers are always
beautifully dressed,
they don’t interrupt or
speak over you.
They are stylish,
well bred, thoughtful and easy on the eye.
Their language is universal
They speak love
They speak gratitude
They say “sorry”
They give selflessly
Something to think about?

2015, appreciation, blogging, blogging experience, elaine orange, New Year, pleasure, thanks

I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! Also, I want to thank everyone who has made my blogging experience such a pleasurable one. This has been my third month of blogging and I’ve been touched by everyone who has liked, followed and/or commented on my blog. I’ve amassed 50 followers – you know who you are! Thank you so much! I haven’t had huge amounts of comments, and I’ve been secretly really jealous:) when I’ve viewed other blogs and they have hundreds of comments, but I guess I’m new to this and it takes a while to build up a blogging relationship [so WordPress tells me]. It may be that what I write doesn’t engender comment, so maybe I have to come up with more exciting stuff!:) I’ll be working on this in 2015! I’ve been privileged to discover so many talented and creative bloggers – I just don’t have enough time in the day to read you all. There has been so much amazing poetry to read, art to view etc etc. It is incredible the amount of talent out there and I’m so pleased that I’m able to share it.

Once again, a very Happy New Year 2015 and here’s to many more blogging years!

Marie (aka Elaine Orange)

In The Valley

I have not reblogged the whole post, but have taken this paragraph from Karenzai’s blog to illustrate my poem’s message which is to be there for those who are depressed, sad, call it what you will. Be there if you possibly can. It really helps.

“Under Reconstruction”
“Musings on mental health, urban education, the sanctity of life, and other things I may come to care about.” http://karenwriteshere.com

“You don’t need empathy to support a depressed person”
“And yes, I wished I had people in my life who fit the above descriptions, and I was indeed blessed with at least one such individual, but it didn’t erase the deep pain of being “left behind”. And one thing I’ve come to realize over a few cycles of depression is this: depressed people don’t need you to empathize; they just need you. A depressed person would rather have you say all the worst possible things, rather than not have you at all.”
~ karenzai

In The Valley

Where the cold winds blow
Down in the valley
That’s where she lay
for a night and a day

She hoped that someone would
come looking in the valley
where alone and lost she lay
for a night and a day

It was hard for her
to communicate sadness
Lost in the valley
all alone in the valley

For those in the valley
All hope can seem fleeting
Shine your light on them today
Be the beacon to light their way

Down in the valley
Empathy is not needed
Sympathy is superfluous
You are all that’s needed
down in the valley
